The client.

In Sheer Elegance, a Bay Area boutique specializing in high-end, carefully-curated inventory. The kind of store where customers return because they trust the buyer's eye. Online, that trust had nowhere to land.

What was broken.

The website was a first-generation e-commerce template that hadn't been updated since launch. Navigation buried the collections that mattered most. Product photography was inconsistent (some pro, some iPhone). Checkout had 6 steps. The click-through rate from Instagram (where the boutique had a strong following) was abysmal, people clicked, saw the site, and closed the tab.

What we changed.

1. Design system reset.

Custom design language built for the boutique's aesthetic, editorial-feel typography, generous white space, photography-first hierarchy. Every page passed "does this feel like a store I want to buy from?"

2. Navigation redesign.

Collections promoted. "New arrivals" and "Under $100" added as entry points for first-time visitors. Customer stories surfaced on the homepage instead of buried in a blog.

3. Product page standards.

Every product: minimum 4 photos, consistent lighting, styled context shots, detailed material descriptions. "What this pairs with" blocks for upsell. Size and fit guidance written by someone who actually knows the product.

4. Checkout simplification.

Six steps to two. Guest checkout enabled. Apple Pay and Shop Pay added. Trust badges on the cart. Cart abandonment emails for anyone who made it past step one.

Our website gets compliments... for being easier to navigate and the click-through-rate has doubled from before.
